OUR PACK UNIFORM
Uniforms are an important part of the Cub Scout experience. They show others that
we are proud to be part of a worldwide organization that has helped develop boys into good
leaders for many years. In the USA, we see men and women in uniform in police
departments, fire departments, and the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast
Guard. Like these professionals, our wear of the uniform must be right at all
times. Here are a few tips for parents about what the well dressed Cub Scout wears.
The hat, shirt, and neckerchief are the most visible aspect of the Cub Scout
uniform. The distinctive blue color makes Cub Scouts stand out as someone
special. The tan uniform for Webelos, 4th and 5th grades, shows that they are
transitioning to Boy Scouts. The patches on the uniform identify the unit or group
the boy belongs to as well as his personal accomplishments or achievements like rank
awards and arrow points. These awards are sewn onto the shirt.
Cub Scouts that start into the Tiger Cub program can usually get three years of wear
from a Cub Scout Shirt. Cub Scouts that start or transition into the Webelos
program, 4th grade, and continue into boy scouts will be able to wear their tan shirts and
olive shorts/pants until they grow out of them. This is important as your son will
be wearing his uniform to all Cub Scout Den Meetings, Pack Meetings and activities unless
the Class B uniform is designated (usually a Pack T-Shirt is worn to clean ups and some
Summertime activities). Also, all adult Cub Scout leaders need to be in uniform
during Pack meetings and all BSA function including den meetings.
Uniform parts should not be worn separately or with non-BSA clothing. Either the
entire uniform should be worn or not at all. |

when we represent the BSA at an activity where a full class A uniform is NOT required.
If there are any financial hardships in purchasing the required Class A
uniform please see the Cubmaster.
Cub Scout Handbooks
Each Cub Scout must have his own copy of the Cub Scout Handbook and should have it all
meetings and activities. This book contains all the basic information that a scout
needs to know and to record his achievements for advancements.
Cub Scout Handbooks are individual subject books which include the requirements,
general information and reference material necessary to help Cubscouts earn advancement
and awards. These books are Cubscout advancement for particular Trail records and
arrow point awards. For advancement briefings with the Advancement committee see
your Cubmaster. These handbooks are available through the Council, the BSA catalogue. |
