Troop 160 was truly blessed to have had Bill Graefe as a friend and a leader. Mr. Graefe was a true gentleman and a wonderful influence. I was very lucky to have met and been mentored by Mr. Graefe. My prayers go out to his family.   Al Bincarousky III (Bud) Kipling, NC

I am sorry for your loss and pray the Lord will heal your hearts with the kindness Bill shared with so many. For the many scouts of Troop 160 there will always be a warm glow in each heart that our life was touched by Bill Graefe. The world is a better place because he […]

“Bill Graefe, oh so special and one of a kind.  Bill’s very being has touched the lives of so many boys and men and will continue to do so when these boys become men.       Whenever I needed guidance regarding a treasury support item I would talk to Mr.Graefe (Mr.Giraffe) and he always put […]

Those we love don’t go away, They walk beside us everyday, Unseen, unheard, but always near, Still loved and missed and very dear. More… It was Bill’s confidence, guidance, and example, and those that followed in his footsteps that helped my son Michael to stay with Scouting and to become the Troop’s 55th Eagle Scout […]

Now a Scoutmaster myself, I’m often asking, “What would Graefe do?” As I teach new Scouts the art of building a campfire, I tell them that we are going to do this the Graefe way and start with the smallest of tinder. Still only takes one match to get the fire going! As a kid, I […]

I want to drop you a note that I attended Bill Graefe’s funeral yesterday. He was laid out in his scout uniform for his final roll call.  Ron Shepard, Joe Lee, Jr.&Sr., Joe Kelly and myself said some words. Bill Jr. had a great tribute going through the scout laws and providing anecdotes for each one. […]

The world has lost a fine & noble man. Having served Burholme Troop 160, it seems like forever, Bill will always be my Scoutmaster. Nothing was too good for his scouts. I considered myself blessed beyond words that I had Bill Graefe in my life. Rest assured that all the “seeds” planted, all the […]

The scouters of Troop 160 were blessed with an exceptional leader. Bill Graefe will continue to exert a positive influence on this world through the men whose character he helped to build. We mourn his passing, and celebrate the life of a legend who epitomized the concept of service. Surely he left this camp […]

Perhaps the fishing helped the scouting, or maybe the scouting helped the fishing. Either or neither, I now have a profound understanding and deep appreciation for the unflappable patience Bill Graefe displayed in both endeavors, at which he excelled and enjoyed so much. His influence continues to touch the lives of so many 160 […]
